Now that I’ve made a list of the top 15 battery powered weed eaters alongside some of their features, we’ll go into the review in detail under this section. We’ll also go through the pros and cons of each product.
#1 Makita XUX01ZM5 18V X2
The first product we’ll review is a highly rated rechargeable weed eater manufactured by Makita. The weed eater has a brushless motor that can deliver up to 7,100 RPM, with three-speed options.
The lowest speed option is set at 4200 RPM (RPM refers to revolutions per minute), the medium at 6000 RPM, and the highest speed option set at 7100 RPM. This differentiates this product from a lot of the other products on the market.
One attractive feature this product has is that it is compatible with a variety of shaft attachments which you can change, depending on the amount of work you intend to do with the machine.
This weed eater also features an electronic torque control, which will turn the engine off if the rotation speed suddenly fluctuates or stops.
This feature serves as extra protection for the engine and the shaft. It also has an overheat warning system that alerts the user once the machine is getting too hot.
This Makita product uses two 18V lithium-ion batteries, which amount to a total of 36V. Though the battery capacity is on the average side, it should last for more than an hour after a full charge.

The cutting speed is also impressive, as it’s set at 7600 RPM. Unlike the previous product, the WORX does not feature a speed control. However, it comes without 2 lithium-ion batteries, unlike the MAKITA, which will save you from spending extra cash.
The battery capacity isn’t impressive, though, as it is just 20V. Regardless, the batteries have a life span of 3 to 5 years and are covered under a 1-year warranty.
The battery should last for around 20 to 30 minutes after a full charge. This means you have to charge frequently during long term use.
A cool feature this product has is the rubberized wheels, which help to guide and support the edger.

The black decker LCC222 is much lighter than most weed eaters, this makes room for easy use, and it stresses your arms less. The product also comes with a leaf blower, which is quite nice as it allows for easy cleanup after mowing or trimming.
One thing most people love about this particular product is the quietness.
Compared to most other brands on the market, the motor is tranquil and runs smoothly. However, the downside is that it’s not suitable for heavy-duty work. You might have some problems if you try to cut through thick grass or bushes.
The leaf blower isn’t all that powerful too. It is mostly suitable for grass clippings and a small amount of leaves. The battery also takes quite some time to charge. Regardless, it’s a good product overall, considering its price.

Rather than a spinning line, this weed eater has a 180-degree rotating handle with a laser-cut blade for maximum results. A striking advantage of this weed eater is the high battery capacity.
The product comes with an 80V lithium-ion battery, which can last for more than an hour after a full charge. However, you’ll need to purchase the battery separately as it does not come with the product.
Be prepared to spend some extra cash, though, as the battery is quite expensive due to its high capacity. The blades are quite sharp and long; 26 inches.
So they are suitable for cutting through reasonably thick bushes and shrubs. The battery also has a quick charge function; a 30-minute charge can give up to one hour of usage.

This weed eater, however, comes with a full two-year warranty, which covers a range of parts. In conclusion, I’ll say this product is quite powerful as it comes with a 26-inch blade. It also has an impressive battery capacity, which is nice. Overall, the products is a good value for the money.

Like the Greenworks PRO, the Greenworks max is a battery-powered weed eater developed by Greenworks. The main difference is that rather than a blade, as in the case of the Greenworks Pro, the Greenworks Max comes with a 0.65” dual string line. The Greenworks Max also comes with a blower plus string trimmer combo.
You can use the product as a leaf blower after cutting grass or weed. The product has an innovative axial fan design, which gives up to 110 MPH and 390 CFM to handle some tough clearing jobs.
Unlike the Greenworks Pro, this particular brand comes with a 40V 2AH lithium-ion battery. It also supports a 4AH battery model, which is stronger but takes longer to charge.
The 2AH battery charges within an hour and runs for up to 45 minutes after a full charge. The 4AH battery takes up to an hour to charge and runs for an hour after a full charge.
A nice feature of this product is the variable speed trigger and cruise control. This spec allows you to control the speed and thus save power along the line. The string also has a 12-inch cut path, and it strong enough to cut through fairly thick bushes.
According to the manufacturer, the blower is best used on a hard surface or grass. The trimmer is suitable for use in a yard that’s up to 1 or 2 acres. The machine weighs just 7 pounds, which makes room for more maneuverability as it’s lightweight.
The engine also has a smooth operation and has a comfortable noise level. Another nice feature this product has is the onboard battery life indicator. This allows you to monitor the battery level during use.

The engine also has a power drive transmission, which helps to increase the torque to get more cutting power. The trimmer plus edger combo makes it easy to convert from a weed trimmer to a wheeled edger in seconds with no bumping required.
It also has an automated, easyfeed string with which you can advance the line with the push of a button.
The BLACK DECKER LSTE525 has a line diameter of 0.065 inches, which translates to a cutting length of around 12 inches, which is quite decent.
The product comes with the battery, unlike some brands, and the included components in full are LSTE520 20V MAX EASYFEED TRIMMER, Two LBXR20 20V MAX Lithium Batteries, One LCS1620 charger, One guard, and One AFS Spool.
The BLACK DECKER has an impressive cutting speed of 5,500 RPM at the lowest setting and 7,200 at the highest setting. The rechargeable weed wacker weighs less than 7 pounds, which is quite light and allows for easy use. The product dimensions are 9.2 x 41.3 x 5.7 inches.
You can get up to 60 mins of runtime on a full charge, which is not bad, considering the battery capacity. Overall, considering the price, the product is of decent quality, and I’ll recommend it to those who are on a tight budget but still want to get something worthy.

The BLACK+DECKER LCC340C is a 40V MAX cordless weed eater with a sweeper and string combo. Like the BLACK DECKER LSTE525, the LCC340C also has a trimmer+ edger combo, i.e., it can convert from a weed trimmer to an edger in seconds with the push of a button.
It can also function as a sweeper for blowing debris off surfaces. One advantage this model has over the LSTE525 is that it weighs less than it. The lightweight design pegs it at a maximum of 4lbs.
The engine has also been improved to reduce the noise since that was the major complaint about the LSTE525. Like the LSTE425, the shaft is also adjustable, making it easy for people of different heights to handle. The LCC340C also has an automatic line feeder, which changes the strings with no bumping required.
This weed eater has a POWER DRIVE high torque transmission, which gives clean and fast cuts. The 40V MAX sweeper moves at speeds up to 130MPH, which is enough to clear debris from hard surfaces.
The LCC340C also has a battery life indicator that shows the battery charge level. The full pack components are One LST140 40V MAS String Trimmer/edger, One LBX2040 40V MAX battery, One battery charger, One Spool, One guard, One LSW40 40 MAX Sweeper, and One Blow tube. As you can see, this product is a full package as it contains every component you need.
The product also comes with a two-year limited warranty, which covers some parts such as the battery and engine. The only downside to this product is the blower.
It’s not powerful enough to blow much debris such as semi-dry leaves and grass. However, the trimmer and edger both work just fine. It is an excellent product considering its price.

The LST140C is another rechargeable weed eater from Black & Decker outdoor with brilliant features. Like the LCC340C, the LST140C also has a 40V, Max lithium-ion battery with a battery indicator that shows the remaining power.
The included components in the pack are: One LST140 40 MAX Lithium String Trimmer/edger, One LBX1540, One 40V MAX charger, One AF-100 Spool, One Guard, and One Auxiliary handle.
This weed eater, like the previous ones I’ve reviewed, also has an automatic feed spool, which automatically feeds the trimmer line whenever a new line is needed with no need for bumping.
Like the other battery-powered weed eaters made by Black Decker, the LST 140C has an inbuilt trimmer+edger combo, which converts the brush head from a weed trimmer to an edger in seconds.
The line trimmer has a 13-inch cutting reach, which is wide enough to cover significant space with minimal movement. The product dimensions are 9 x 40 x 4 inches with the weight set at 8 pounds, which is moderate.
This model is quite similar to a lot of the other BLACK DECKER models, such as the LST136. This model is only more recent. From the product details listed by the manufacturer, I’ve noticed the cutting speed is missing, which is suspect.
The product also comes with a 3-year limited warranty which only covers some parts of the machine. Regardless, the other features look great, and at $99, it isn’t a bad bargain.

It is best used in a yard sized between 1/2 acres. According to the manufacturer, the blower works on a hard surface or grass for optimum results. The trimmer has a dual line with a 0.065 diameter. The line has a cut path of 12 inches, which seems to be the standard for many string trimmers.
Like many other weed eaters on the market, the GreenWorks STBA40B210 has an automatic trimmer line feed, which feeds a new line with no bumping required. The blower speed also looks decent, with the maximum speed pegged around 110 MPH.
This product has a variable speed trigger, unlike the previous one, I reviewed. It helps you control or supply extra power depending on the thickness of the bush or how much the leaves or grass are, in case you’re using the blower.
The variable speed trigger also has a cruise control system, which helps to ensure a smooth operation. Another feature this product has, which I like, is the on-board battery life indicator, which displays the battery power left during usage.
The weed eater can also work with other compatible batteries, such as the 4ah model 29472, which is stronger than the 2ah model. At just 7 pounds, the product is lightweight and thus easily maneuverable without stressing your muscles.
The engine also has a smooth operation with a decent noise level. Overall, it’s a good product that comes with the features most people look out for.

The GreenWorks 21342 is a cordless weed eater made by GreenWorks and is similar to some of the company’s other weed eaters. The product comes with a pivoting head, which allows for both edging and trimming.
This brand has an edging wheel, unlike the GreenWorks STBA40B210, which is an added advantage.
However, the battery capacity is quite low, compared to the STBA40B210. It comes with just a single 24V 2.0AH battery, which would only run for a few minutes before you need to charge it again.
The product also has a telescoping drive shaft, which is 40 inches in length and is compatible with the GreenWorks Replacement Spool.
The pivoting head can be changed to four positions, which will allow you to get to some difficult to reach places. Like its predecessor, this weed eater also comes with an automatic line feed system with no need for bumping. A lot of Greenworks weed eaters have this feature.
The trimming line has a 12-inch cut path with a 0.65 single line auto-feed, which lets the trimming line advance easily. According to the manufacturer, the product is best used in a 1/4 acre yard, if it would be used with the 24V battery.
The 24V battery can offer up to 30 minutes of runtime, which is small compared to other brands on the market.
The motor isn’t brushless, and it does not support attachments. The product dimensions are 30.3 x 9.2 x 6.7 inches, with the entire weight measured at 8.82 pounds. The length of the pole is also adjustable, making it suitable for different individuals.
The cutting speed is also decent and will cut through light and fairly thick weeds or grass with ease.

The design is awe-inspiring, and the product also comes with a variable trigger with speed control, which helps to save power and maintain control. This weed eater comes with a patented gear drive design, with an RPM of 0-4,600 at the initial stage — the cutting power peaks at 6,000 RPM.
The patented gear design helps to provide more torque and also maintains cut speed under load. The DEWALT weed eater comes with an auxiliary handle, charger, guard, and a rewound line in the spool. The product dimensions are 67.8 x 10.9 x 8.8 inches, and it weighs a total of 14 pounds, which is quite heavy.

The shaft isn’t adjustable, unlike the Black Decker. This weed eater is suitable for use on noise-sensitive properties as they are easy on the ears while maintaining enough cutting speed to power through the tough overgrowth.
However, the downside is that the product is not available for shipping in some countries, and so it’s impossible to get if it’s not available in your country. The battery capacity is also unimpressive.
Regardless, this cordless weed eater is very affordable, especially when you consider the features.

#12 WORX WG154
The cost of acquiring a WORX WG154 is $68. Personally, this is the best battery powered weed eater you can get at that price. The weed eater has a string trimmer + edger combo, which allows you to switch from the trimmer to an edger within seconds and vice versa.
You also have the option to convert the line’s cutting path to get a wider cut or for extended run time. The product also comes with a folding spacer guard, which would help protect ornaments such as flowers and plants.
WG154 has a 20V lithium-ion battery, which isn’t impressive, but manageable considering the price. However, the time it takes to reach a full charge is mindblowing, a whole 5 hours!
After a full charge, the battery only lasts for around 25 to 30 minutes of continuous usage, after which you have to go through the long charging process again.
However, the product has some attractive features such as the 100% automatic line feed (single) with no bumping required. It also has an ergonomic front handle, which is fixed and gives room for maximum control. The trimmer-edger conversion is too cool; it just activates with a single touch.
The WORX is also very light, it weighs just about 4.5 pounds, making it very easy to move. The handle/shaft isn’t adjustable, however, which makes it hard to maneuver for specific individuals.
It is also worthy of note that a battery power indicator is present, which indicates when the battery needs to be charged.
This is signaled by a blinking green light on the indicator. If you’re on a budget and you do not mind the specs, then this might be the right product for you as it’s cheap and suitable for basic yard work.

This brand also has an innovative command feed spool system, which is faster than the one built into the WG154. Unlike the ‘154, this brand has a telescopic shaft that can be adjusted to fit the user’s height or posture, making it suitable for a large number of people.
Another added feature is the 90-degree tilting shaft, which can change the direction of the cutting head to make it easy to reach hard areas. The edger also has a rubberized twin wheel to support and guide it.
A shared feature with the WG154 is the adjustable spacer guard, which helps in protecting plants you do not want to touch. This weed eater also has an adjustable handle for easy maneuvering. The trim diameter of the WG180 is 12 inches, which is typical of a cordless weed eater.
The product dimensions are 36.3 x 5.5 x 7.5 inches, while it weighs 8.2 pounds in total. After a full charge, the battery has a runtime of 1 hour up to 1 hr 20 mins, which is quite better than the WG154.
